Well-Proven Technology for Industrial Applications
ROFIN delivers a broad range of CO2 lasers that reaches from sealed-off products up to multi-kW lasers in the power range from 30 to 8,000 W. Whether for cutting, welding, structuring, perforating, drilling or laser marking – the established CO2 lasers from ROFIN are always a good choice. Due to their high reliability, low maintenance efforts and an excellent beam quality, they are essential tools in production.
Slab Laser
Highest Reliability – Lowest Maintenance Effort
Cutting, welding or surface treatment – the diffusion-cooled CO2 Slab laser from ROFIN is the perfect tool for a wide variety of applications. The trend-setting principle of the Slab laser provides highest reliability. The laser operates with only a few extremely durable components and does not need conventional gas recirculation – leading to a considerable reduction of maintenance and service.
The gas consumption is also minimized: the gas bottle, integrated in the laser head, lasts for up to 15 months. In addition, the excellent beam quality of K = 0.95 makes the fastest cuts and deepest weld seams. With its excellent attributes and high efficiency, the ROFIN Slab laser has become a mainstream tool in countless production lines around the world.
Sealed off Slab laser
No Gas Consumption, Virtually Maintenance-Free
The optical resonator is formed by the front and rear mirrors and two parallel RF-electrodes. Excitation of the laser gas takes place in the RF field between the water-cooled electrodes. The heat generated in the gas is dissipated by the water-cooled electrodes (diffusion-cooled). A beam shaping module is integrated into the laser head and produces a high quality round symmetrical beam.
The New Flexibility
Either in rod or disc geometry: our solid-state lasers are always the best choice with its flexible beam guiding through optical fibers. Solid-state lasers have proved to be the ideal beam source for most marking applications. They are as well applied for cutting, welding, removing and drilling. ROFIN offers an extensive choice of CW-, pulsed and Q-switched solid-state lasers with a power range between 3 and 4000 W – in all cases the right laser for your application.
CW and Q switched
From Continuous-Wave Operation to Pulse Peak Capacity
The laser-active Nd:YAG solid-state rod is activated via laser diodes. In contrast to conventional lamp pumped solid-state lasers, the absorption of diode light in the Nd:YAG-rod is much more efficient. Hence, the beam quality that is based on a low thermal strain as well as on the lens value of the Nd:YAG crystal is improved and provides electric efficiency that is significantly higher.
As a special mode of operation of the continuous-wave or CW-laser the Q-switch is employed. In the process the course of beam in the laser resonator through the laser-active medium is optically blocked by an active element (Q-switch). At the same time the continuously added pump energy is temporarily stored in the Nd:YAG crystal. After the clearance of the interlock respectively after the opening of the optical path, the entire stored energy is released in one very short pulse. Afterwards, the optical path is locked again. This process is repeated continuously with a frequency of basically CW to 100 kHz, whereas the lengths of the pulse can always be varied between 15 and 400 ns. With these short pulses pulse peak performances are generated that can reach with up to 3 MN way beyond 1000 times of CW laser performance.
Pulsed Rod Laser
For Laser Fine Welding and Fine Cutting Applications
Due to their beam and pulse characteristics, pulsed YAG rod lasers with powers up to 500 W are especially suited for laser fine welding and fine cutting applications. With pulse peak performances of up to 20 kW even highly reflecting materials can be combined with high melting temperatures, large welding depth and high process speed. Pulsed rod lasers allow at laser fine cutting applications – as for example the manufacturing of stents – finest cuts with kerfs below 15 µm.
Disc Laser
Powerful Disc and Efficient Cooling
The laser active crystal is shaped like a disc. There are significant advantages resulting from this geometry: a more efficient cooling of the laser active material, a reduced thermal lens and therefore remarkably improved beam quality compared to common laser systems. High-power diodes pump light into a Yb:YAG crystal disc and penetrates the laser active material several times until fully absorbed. The created laser beam with excellent beam quality is coupled out of the resonator by special optics – efficient and powerful.
Compact and Efficient
Our pulsed, q-switched and cw mode fiber lasers with a power rate of only a few watts up to 2 KWatt allow cost-effective welding, cutting or marking of metal and plastic materials. Fiber lasers stand out due to their high efficiency and excellent beam quality.
